1)  Play hangman, choosing one of the words each go for your child to guess the letters.

2) Write a 4 sentence story using as many of the words as you can.

3) Shannon's Game: adult chooses one of the words and draws a dash for each letter. Your child has to guess each letter in the correct order. If they get the next letter correct, they get a point. If they make an incorrect guess for the next letter, you get a point. The winner for each word is the person who got the most points for that word.

4) Write 2 versions of the word, 1 spelt correctly and one incorrectly                                          e.g. different / diferrent. Your child has to say which they think is the correct spelling.

5) Pick one of the spellings. See how many times they can write it in one minute. Do a different word each night.

6) Pick a word. Write it on your child's back with your finger for them to guess which word it was. Then swap and they write it on your back for you to guess.

7) Do rainbow writing: they write the word in red in an arc shape. Then they write it again underneath in orange and so on until they have it written as a rainbow.

8) Throw the dice game: pick 6 words from the list each and assign each a number from 1 to 6. Take turns to roll the dice. Whichever number comes up, tell your partner the corresponding word and they have to spell it. Then swap. The first person to have got all 6 of their spellings correct, is the winner. (The same word may come up several times, but this is good for over-learning!)
